IN-18 (ИН-18) Nixie Tube incl. Socket and blue floor lighting Example of use! Remark: The Nixie clock case and the colon tubes are not part of this offer! (You will find the colon tubes at my other offers!)
This offer includes a wonderful, new, tested IN-18 Nixie tube with new socket and a 3 blue LEDs for the floor lighting as shown here:
|
Scope of delivery:
|
- 1 pcs. IN-18 Nixie tube (new, unused, tested, matched)
- 1 socket boards
- 14 tube contacts (pin receptacles)
- 3 blue LEDs (Light intensity: 2000 mcd)
|
This set fits perfect to the colon tubes CT-IN-18 at my other offers! All tubes are tested and matched in shape and height, so that you will receive absolutely identical tubes if you order more than one. Pay close attention when buying a set of Nixie tubes, that you get matched tubes! Even tubes from the same series can heavily differ in shape and height, and that looks ugly if used in a Nixie clock! The socket provides the opportunity to apply the included LEDs under the tube to generate the very impressive floor lighting effect.

You can use other LEDs instead of the included blue ones, of course. You can use the tube contacts in your own PCB layout, too. The socket has a black coated surface. This is very expedient for the case mounting at a Nixie clock, because the black surface looks neutral. You'll find the complete assembly instructions of the socket here and the technical data of the tubes as pdf file (6 MB). Here you see the completely assembled tube socket:
You can use one, two, three or four LEDs. For a balanced glow in combination with IN-18 tubes I recommend 2 or 3 LEDs, at which if 3 LEDs are used, the front LED should not be assembled (see pictures). You never should use 4 LEDs in combination with a IN-18 tube! The following 4 pictures show the socket in all 4 variants (computer animation):

1 LED (not recommended)
|
2 LEDs (recommended for IN-18 – standard intensity)
|
3 LEDs (for IN-18 tubes – very high intensity)
|
4 LEDs – very high intensity – do not use for IN-18 tubes!

Here you see the drawing of the assembled socket:

| Remarks:
all dimensions in mm
The drawing shows the standard alignment for IN-18 tubes, at which the tube front (pin 4) shows an angle of 32.5° to the mounting holes.
The Drawing shows the 4 LED positions. Please note that for the IN-18 tube only 2 or 3 LEDs are recommended. The LED in front should not be used in combination with IN-18 tubes, because it blinds!

Example of use: Nixie clock with IN-18 tubes and colon tubes CT-IN-18 mounted in a case At the following pictures you see a IN-18 Nixie clock mounted in a gorgeous stainless steel case as example. Exactly the same principle as described in the assembly instructions (here). There’s no limit for your fantasy for the case, of course. Have fun building it!
Remark: The shown clock case and colon tubes are not part of this offer!
